Quaran-tunes for your Quaran-blues

How many of us start our day off with a good song or two? If I had to guess, I would say most of us do!

Though, if I’m being honest, I’ve felt a little uninspired when it comes to my same old songs these past few weeks. They just aren’t making me want to get up and dance like they usually do.

Of course, the reason I’ve been feeling this way is because of all the time spent inside where I’m hardly introduced to as many new things as I’d like. My primary source of newness is anything via Twitter & TikTok which are typically only fractions of songs instead of straight-up, feel-good jams. Because of this, I decided to put together some new and old songs that will without a doubt always get me to sing along or dance to them. I hope they’ll inspire you too - pause that Netflix because it’s time to get up & move with these Quaran-tunes.

#1 Talk Too Much - COIN

Though it’s been out for years now, I just rediscovered this song during my search for something that I can’t help but dance to. Plus, this music video is so fun! COIN is an Indie Pop band from Nashville - they got started in 2012 and had a tour scheduled up until recently when they had to postpone for later dates (lame). You’ll have to excuse the devastation in my writing tone.

#2 Worst Nites - Foster the People

You might remember this group from their breakout hit in 2011, Pumped Up Kicks. Much to my surprise, they did not become infamous for being a one-hit-wonder. After their release of “Sit Next To Me” from their 2017 LP Sacred Hearts Club, which brought them back into the Hot 100’s, their release of this track is unforgettable for me. It combines their signature electro-pop sound that we all loved, with a sound that can keep up in 2020 (even with a release date back in 2018).

#3 Shut Up - Greyson Chance

If you’re a huge Ellen stan like me, you’ll know that she loves to bring on recently discovered talent & highlight their abilities. Greyson Chance got this opportunity back in 2010 when he rose to national fame after her performance of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” went #viral. Throughout his long career, he’s had EP’s and albums released under his name. His most recent, Portraits, came out in 2019 and it’s one of my definite go-to’s.

#4 Spaceman - The Killers

https://youtu.be/Hc16Y9fiCvQ

I know what you’re probably thinking, and I want to recognize that yes this song did come out forever and a day ago. However, Spaceman still slams (and I’m not just saying that because The Killers are my favorite band of all time). You’ll dance. You’ll sing. You’ll have a grand time with this one.

#5 Reflections - MisterWives

Traveling to NYC is where we’ll find this band who released their first EP in 2014, but it wasn’t until 2015 when Our Own House, their debut album, was released. What first attracted me to this group was that they give me a lot of Paramore vibes with their female vocal lead (three cheers for GRL PWR)! And once you hear the rest of this album, you’ll be hooked too!

If you’re not convinced yet, that’s okay! I know my music style might not be for everyone, but my point is that now more than ever we need to move our feet! Dancing bolsters physical and mental health. It can help lift your mood & relieve some anxiety. Music is a great way to make you feel motivated to shake that booty and a new song or two will help take you there!
